GIVE YOUR BUSINESS A KICKSTART INTO 2008
TIME is running out for Merseyside firms looking to scoop the Liverpool ECHO Kickstart campaign and its £20,000 worth of prizes.
The campaign aims to create 2,008 new jobs by 2008 and is run with Merseyside Special Investment Fund, a source of finance and support for business on Merseyside.
This is the fourth in our five-year campaign and aims to find the most innovative and enterprising small businesses in the region. Supporters include leading UK figures like Prime Minister Tony Blair, entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson and easyJet boss Stelios Haji-Ioannou.
Our 2,008 jobs goal is on target, with more than 1,500 people now in work thanks to the initiative.
The overall winner will receive a £10,000 cash prize and up to £10,000 worth of consultancy from MSIF*.
One of the most dynamic entries so far has come from Birkenhead-based Cull Micro Imaging.
Founded as a family photography business in 1926, it has evolved to offer the cutting edge scanning and storage technology that is helping make the paperless office a reality. It employs 45 staff and has top clients like Marks & Spencer.
Director Damian Cull said: “The Kickstart campaign is a superb idea showing that the ECHO wants to support local businesses in a practical way.”
ECHO editor Alastair Machray said: “Cull is an example of a Merseyside business that has changed and developed over the years to meet different demands and are worthy entrants.”
MSIF fund manager Mark Fuller said: “We are delighted to receive Cull's entry and look forward to receiving many more examples of the good work going on in Merseyside.”

All finalists will be publicised in the ECHO and will be invited to the awards in March.* The consultancy is provided by an MSIF mentor and there is no cash alternative. The nature of the consultancy must be agreed With MSIF in advance.

MERSEYSIDE Special Investment Fund is a source of finance and support for business on Merseyside, with funds totalling £107m providing investments from £3,000-£4m.
MSIF provides loans and equity investments – not grants – with a range of money-saving support services to add value to a business.
Since 1996 MSIF has backed more than 1,000 businesses.
